Neighborhood Median Clean-Up Project
Updates:
Thank you to everyone that helped out at the second median clean-up on Saturday, 4/30/22. Huge Thank you to: Braden Horvath, Jim Hunter, Johnathan Burns and his family, Lloyd Sutton, Ed and Karen Braswell, Ron Davis, Ernie Brown, Trevor Johnson, Abbi Rajabi, and Chris Sharman.
Don’t have time to help – please think about making a donation. All funds raised will be used for replanting and replacement of the Bradford Pear Trees on the neighborhood medians. All funds stay in our neighborhood and benefit our community.
To learn more about why the Bradford Pear Trees need to be removed, please read these articles:
– Bradford Pear Trees to be officially banned in SC
– As Bradford pears remain a nuisance in South Carolina, methods of attack range from bounties to bans.
The Garden Club held its first island clean-up on Saturday, December 4, 2021, with a great volunteer turnout. While performing the clean-up we had numerous people ride by and express their gratitude for our efforts. We look forward to an even greater turnout at our next clean-up. A date has not been confirmed yet, but watch this space and check the Events Calendar for an announcement. The Garden Club’s Island Beautification Project is a long term project that will include several smaller milestones on the journey to a final completion. We are working on a clean-up of the Pinto palms, trimming of the hedges on islands one and three, and limbing up pine trees. We are on the road to a more beautiful Hickory Hill.
Come along for the ride!
